Christmas Randoms

Gah, every year I plan that I will do lots of Christmas related posts...and every year that never happens. So.

Dear Six-Days-Till-Christmas -  That is just not right. It should be December 1st. Not the nineteenth. (By the way...yesterday was my mom's birthday! Happy birthday, Mom!) But it is. What with stress lately, I'm not exactly in the most Christmasy mood, but I've resolved to drop my "expectations" and enjoy this week. I'm so messed up...I get panicky that it's almost here and I'm not in the "mood"...grrrr. :D Which just makes me more stressed, which means that I can't get in the mood...so yeah. This is what this is, and I will be happy with it!

Dear The Hobbit  - we finally got to see you yesterday with some friends...yeah! We were planning to wait a few weeks and have a group viewing but then some of us decided we couldn't wait so we'd just...go twice. ;) You were absolutely awesome - definitely my favorite in the series so far. I was able to enjoy it a lot more having not read the book (heresy, I know) because I wasn't comparing everything to the book the way my brother was or knowing exactly what happened next. Martin Freeman was just as incredible as I hoped he would be, and...

Dear Richard Armitage  - you are complete and total awesomeness sauce. AWESOMENESS SAUCE, PEOPLES!!!! Gahhhhh, my sister and I were squealing (quietly) through the whole thing. Awesomeness sauuuuuuuuuuuuuuce...

Anyway.

Dear Benedict Cumberbatch  - RATS! It was very disappointing that you didn't actually speak in this one. And you were like, EVERYONE in the film.

Dear Gollum - you were as precious as always. No pun intended. The riddle scene was so hilarious! And if they were trying to make me like you less, warts and all, they shouldn't have had-what-was-in-there. Because it just made me pity you more. My precious. ;)

Dear A WHOLE STINKIN' YEAR!!!!  - Bummer. With all the other ones we were like, ok, pop the next DVD in! And as the credits rolled yesterday it hit me - we've gotta wait A WHOLE YEAR. Yowza.

Dear Christmas prep. Spent the morning making sugar cookie dough for the kids and this afternoon I've got to do some last minute shopping...and there's SNOW in the forecast!!!

Dear Snow - please come. Please, please, please come. Nothing will make the Christmas Spirit hurry up like snow outside. Can we pleaseeeeee have a White Christmas this year?!

Dear Les Miserables - the One Day More clip you've just released is AWESOME! Just as I suspected, the number is filmed like the Tonight quintet in the West Side Story film, and it's completely epic! Cannot WAIT! Also very much looking forward to see you with a friend in January!

Dear Disney's-version-of-A Christmas Carol - I *so* did not expect to love you as much as I do. While there is a bit of a corny issue during the Ghost of Christmas Future (don't need that much slapstick and it's kind of out of place with the tone of the rest of the film), I was soooo surprised at how accurate to the book it is - most lines are right out of the book and there are scenes from the book that no other version I've seen have included. And Colin Firth as Fred is just a delicious extra. Even my dad was like, he's really cool. Yup, he is.

Dear Christmas tree - I love you. I also need to post a picture. :)

Dear Whovians-in-the-making brothers - Number One, I am so triumphant that I made you Whovians, especially after how much you said you hated it. :-P Second, you have no idea how much fun it is hearing you recommend it to all your friends. Cracks me up so bad. :-D

Dear Ebay - why do you never have the really good deals that you have all year at Christmas? Especially when I'm on a very-limited-budget this year? It's not fair.

Dear Belle - we were really bored the other day when we were recasting Muppet Christmas Carol with Doctor Who characters. But really, the idea of The Doctor and Donna playing the Gonzo and Rizzo roles is quite funny.

Dear 90's - you had your faults, but your romantic comedies were the best. We could use some help now.

Dear Sherlock - I love you even more now after The Hobbit. Also you must have a new season soon. Absolutely. Please.

Dear God - on a bit more serious note, it is so comforting to read these words after everything that's happened in the last week in Connecticut. You know what's going on and You aren't going to let the wicked get away with their deeds forever.

Dear Family-Christmas-Picture - you're being difficult. Stop it. :)

Dear Better Cheddar - you are one of my favorite stores ever. Having all the gourmet cheese and tea and dips and chocolate and crackers and everything my gourmet-foodie heart could desire. And there's something so Christmasy to me about going in there all bundled up and getting snacks for Christmas. Don't know why, but it just is.

Dear Christmas - I'm really looking forward to you. And I need to stop, take a breather, and remember what this is all about. Then I'll feel better. :)

I LOVE Disney's A Christmas Carol! It is so accurate to the book, and reading the book aloud is a big tradition in my family. Last year we finished reading it on Christmas Eve and then watched the movie. I just love it:)

Love these 'Letter' posts, Alexandra - they are always fun and go up easy. (Ironically, that was my post today also - great minds, you know. ;D)

I so agree with you about Sherlock, unfortunately, it was delayed 'til 2014. *Sad face* That is such a bummer!

Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas! :D

ahhhh!!! I want to see the Hobbit SO BADLY....I think it's going to have to wait until the new year, though...sigh. ;( I didn't know Benedict Cumberbatch was going to be in the Hobbit mivies until, like, two days ago and I was freaking out. WHY didn't anyone tell me before????

loved the One day More clip...I liked the way it flowed. I was trying to figure out how they were going to show everybody singing, but i had a hard time making it fit. Anyway...I prefer the music from the actual musical performances. But I think the movie is going to be a "realistic" musical...if the characters really were singing, that's exactly what they'd sound like, if you get my meaning.

I need to see Doctor Who...a neighbor has the boxed season so she said she'd have to have me over one day for a whole Doctor Who marathon...

Merry Christmas!!!

Well, I now need to write an entry of my own:

Dear Alexandra - I know I've never met you in "real" life, and I haven't been stalking (um, I mean "following") your blog or pinterest for very long, but THANK YOU for being the fanatical Whovian that you are. You made me one! All your squealing and gushing about the show made me so curious, and yes, I'm addicted! Thanks, dear. =]

I'm telling you, we have so much in common =)

Okay, I'm thinking ALL girls found themselves loving Richard Armitage all over again. Wasn't he awesome sauce? ;-)

Like you, I have this "thing" for Gollum. Not sure why. But I love the guy

And yes, Benedict Cumberpatch needed to talk. Oh well. He should next time

And I haven't read the book either, so we're in the same boat =D

I know I don't comment much (at all). :) Sorry. Anywho -- loved this post! Oh, and Benedict Cumberbatch DID talk. :) He was the Necromancer...who spoke for all of five seconds. ;) yup!

Gollum - I hear ya. I've always loved him. In fact, when I read The Hobbit I about cried at one point because it described Gollum, in their conversation, as getting really angry for a bit because he was reminded of his Grandmother. It. Was. Depressing. :'(

The Les Mis clip was awesome! I love that song! *happy and way too excited*

I know, only six days! How's that possible? It's been flying by for me, too. :( Sad.

Once again, lovely post!

Good day!

Oh you saw The Hobbit! :-O LOVED IT!!! Killi and Thorin are my favorite dwarfs. Bilbo was BRILLIANT! Gollum was surprisingly cute yet creepy. Gandalf was awesome.I just LOVED IT!!!!

YAY! A new Whovian! Whovians are nuts, the lot of us. Thats okay though. The most interesting people are a bit crazy! I've just finished S5 of DW. Eleven is brilliant. Rory is amazing (he waited 200 YEARS for Amy!! AWESOME) Amy is lovely. S5 was wonderful :) We introduced a friend/sister too! She jumped right to Eleven cause we'd returned S1-4 and she LOVED him *Grin* We have now got back S1 and are showing her ALL THE EPISODES! She likes nine but Eleven is still her favorite :D Thats okay. 11 is COOL. But Nine - *Sigh* MY favorite.

one last thing; GOD IS GREAT! HE CAN DO *ALL* THINGS!

God Bless
Bella

Amen on Armitage. :) Sadly though, I have always been extremely creeped out by Gollum and didn't even want to watch that part. I did though, of course. :)

Just found your blog.... love it as we are kindred Sisters in Christ. I was researching for garments to add to my facebook page (mary, not martha ), where I love to highlight garments I wish I could attempt to reproduce, if I only had time (and more talent!)... so I must content myself with seeing what others have done, and continue to offer supplies to those who DO have the time and talent through my Etsy shop (marynotmartha), where we seek to honor God in all our dealings.... and attitudes (thankful for the scripture on Mary's bad attitude, that I can continue to seek to be MUCH more of a Mary than I am!)..... may 2013 hold blessings beyond your highest hopes, through Him Who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly beyond all we can ask or think.....
